The Meaning of Two People in an Office

We are in charge of this 24 hour open amusement facility, nomally one person is in charge but this holiday season -13th -15th of August, two people are allotted.
Thanks to that I was able to take a rest in an office. We have four hours rest but if we were one, sometimes we are unable to take a rest well because we have to deal with the matter by oneself. He is one of my best colleagues in my office, he makes allowances for me because I am working many different jobs, I need to take a rest somewhere sometime inevitably. Thanks to me taking a rest, he was able to use computers as he wanted, seemed he was blogging all night long. He must have been thankful to me.
If I were allotted a woman colleague, we would start doing other than blogging and working.
